Treatments
Incision-free, catheter-based interventional radiology treatments
What is interventional radiology treatment?
Interventional radiology covers treatments performed with thin catheters and needles under imaging such as ultrasound, CT, MRI and angiography. Instead of a large incision, the physician advances through the vessels from a small entry at the groin or wrist. Most procedures therefore need no general anesthesia, hospital stays are short and return to daily life is quick.
All of the treatments below are planned after an in-person consultation at the Interventional Radiology Unit of Ankara City Hospital. Each page describes the condition, its symptoms, how the method is performed, possible risks and the doctor's published studies. The suitable method varies by patient; an endovascular method is not the first option for every disease, and in some cases surgery or medication is better.
